Passing Of William “Jim” James McAlpine, Jr.

William “Jim” James McAlpine, Jr., born March 21, 1931, at home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, to the
April 11, 2026.

Jim was a 1949 graduate of Scott Senior High School. He was the devoted husband of Mildred Irene
(Mohr) McAlpine for 33 years and later Suzanne (Deck) McAlpine for 28 years.
He dedicated most of his working life to Lukens Steel Company, spending nine years in the Lukenweld
Machine Shop before moving into Production Control, where he remained until his retirement.

Jim was a proud and active member of his community. He served 73 years with the Washington Hose
Fire Company and was a 70-year member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was also
involved with the Coatesville Jaycees and the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 74.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in school, bowling at the YMCA, and
playing third base in the church baseball league with the Presbys. In later years, he found joy in watching
sports, working on puzzles, and spending time with his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Edward McAlpine; his step son Clyde Deck;
his grandson, Joseph Donia; his step-granddaughter, Chelsie Shaw; and both of his wives.

He is survived by his sister, Rebecca C. Givler (Michael); his three children: Robert “Jay” McAlpine
(Mary), Millyann Davis (Merle), and Trudy Simpson; and his grandchildren: Mindy (Dave) Hoopes,
Michael (Dana) Davis, Mark (Candace) Davis, Jason (Lauren) McAlpine, and Justin McAlpine. He is also
survived by his great-grandchildren: Matthew and Mason Gorham; Blake and Katelyn Davis; Caleb Davis;
and step-great-grandchildren Noah and Seth Hoopes, and Gabriel and Lilliana McGrogan.
From his second marriage, Jim is also survived by four stepchildren: Suzanne (Ron) Jacoby, step
daughter-in-law Eve Deck, Julie (Lance) Walls, Robbie (Rhonda) Deck, and Brad Deck; along with 16 step-
grandchildren—Aaron Jacoby, Kevin (Bri) Jacoby, Andrea (Jesse) Streett, Kris (Chelsey) Jacoby, Warren
and Curtis Deck, Vincent (Racheal) Walls, Emily (Phil) Burstein, Patrick Walls, Ashley and David Shaw,
Alicia (Jonathan) Miranda, Angelina and Arianna Deck—and 15 step-great-grandchildren, Braelynn
Wimble and Neal Jacoby, Jason Streett, Kayli Jacoby, Mason and Mackenzie Walls, Nora and Benjamin
Burstein, Jazz, CJ, Asia, Messiah and Laila Jenkins, Zavin Shaw, Aaralynn Launi and Aiden Ruiz.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Coatesville Bible Fellowship Church on 4/16/2026 at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Hose Co. No. 1, 376 E. Lincoln
Hwy, Coatesville, PA 19320.
